A great time was had by all 29!!! of us who participated in the Temecula Mud Run last weekend at Vail Lake. Young and old, we all got good and muddy while running the 5K race. Our own Louie and Eric ran the 10K race and came in well under 2 hours even though the obstacles were crazy! The course consisted of 6 large mud pits, too many obstacles to count, as well as very steep mountains. The 5K course had a very steep hill on the second half of the course, but the 10K race had 3! Kudos to Louie who ran the entire race with no training other than kettlebells. We all found that that our kettlebell training helped with our endurance. Most of us have not run since the Temecula Wine Run last November, yet we all made it through the race without feeling as if we should have trained for it. We can’t wait for the next mud run!

Team CEKB showed that after training with kettlebells running a 5K is easy! We had runners of all ages, from teens to 50 plus for our first team Wine Run. We started the morning out right running 3.2 miles through wine country and then finished with wine and beer tasting. Thanks to everyone who got out of their warm beds and spent the morning showing how amazing kettlebell training is for overall fitness. Not one of us runs regularly, yet all of us finished in a respectable time. Kudos to Riley for finishing 2nd among all the 11 to 19 year old runners, and to Lulie M for finishing first out of all of us 20+’ers! Check the board at the gym for details on our next outing – coming soon!
Last Saturday we had our first CEKB night out at the Lake Elsinore Storm Game. It was great to see our members and their families outside the gym and in real clothes. We clean up good!
I must say there is a hole in my workout where the 5 or Die Challenge used to be. Surprisingly, I’m not the only one here at CEKB who feels this way. There’s only one way to fill this hole. It’s time for a new challenge!
